With so much interest in how social networks work, one begins to wonder if there is marketing potential within these social networks?
I have been seeing social network for a while now. The truth is I'm an associate of various social networking websites including https://www.linkedin.com and http://www.myspace.com/ simply to name two.
I joined partly because I wanted to see what they were, but more importantly to see on SEM what effect social network might have in the coming years.
I've been a part of various services for some time and the reach these sites have is outstanding.
For example, from my LinkedIn network of eight people I have an extended network of over 12,600 people.
That is amazing - I'm merely a click or two away from close to 13,000 others who share my related interests ranging from what I like to watch o-n TV to work I can offer for them.
Through my connections and their connections, I'm attached to people starting from the American Cancer Society, to Sun Microsystems to the University of Texas to Google.
But what marketing possibilities exist for Social Media?
Well, let us take a look at MySpace. Identify more on our affiliated wiki by visiting http://iielaw.org/member/chris-brummer-2.
MySpace is one of many prime sites on the net today. It racked up 9.4 thousand page-views in August 2005 (significantly more than Google) and new people are signing up in a rate of 3.5 million a month. If people need to discover more on www.mannatechblog.com/, we know of thousands of online libraries you should think about pursuing.
MySpace is typical of where todays 18-30 year old goes to manage their electronic life. It allows people to post photos of themselves and their friends, develop a website, list their favorite bands, watch and share videos, suggest activities to do and lists a couple of people they consider friends. It is with this 'Friends List' where all of the opportunities lay.
All thirty million plus people of MySpace have a friends page that lists people that person thinks their friend. This is a listing of people who they're interested in hearing from on a normal basis, along with conversing with and about. After you put somebody as your friend they can send you messages, comment on your pictures, study your blogs, as well as leave messages that you can then share with the others. That is a chance for quick feedback about you.
The ability to include friends to your page is crucial for advertising to MySpace consumers. Dig up more on our affiliated encyclopedia by visiting https://twitter.com/chrisbrummerdr?lang=en. According to Courtney Holt, head of new media and strategic marketing at Interscope Records, 'This generation is growing up with no ever seen developed media. Be taught new resources on facebook.com/mannatechinc by browsing our salient paper. 'They do not think in terms of-the record, and they do not think in terms of a TV schedule. They think with regards to TiVo, P2P, AOL, and naturally MySpace.
You can observe how this might develop.
Let's say you develop a MySpace account to talk about your service or product. You website about any of it and look for the others that'll share your interests.
Afterward you ask them to be your friend. When they develop into a friend you start your 'soft sell' selling your product in their mind.
They start blogging and sharing it, as they grow to appreciate it. Soon hundreds or even thousand of individuals are referring to you and your product or service.
Don't think this will work?
I would like to give you a few examples. There are many artists who have gotten their begin MySpace. By just hosting a number of their music on line and blogging about them-selves they created a following. Soon they'd record deals and contracts prearranged.
Needless to say to work with ser-vices like MySpace you need to get some thing this target audience needs. If you do not then you probably shouldn't put a lot of energy in-to MySpace.
But that does not mean other social media opportunities must be overlooked. As I mentioned previously, Linked-in is more of an expert introduction service. If your product or service meets here then by all means explore it more.
And you'll find others aswell. Services for example Yahoo!s MyWeb, Flickr, http://del.icio.us and more.
When you have ever wondered what other online possibilities might be out there, consider social networking. Maybe it's another great online-marketing channel..
